Nebraska Vs. Washington Score: Fast Start Fizzles, Cornhuskers Lead

The Nebraska Cornhuskers came firing out of the gate in Lincoln, putting the Washington Huskies in an early hole with a quick strike on the first possession of the game. In a moment reminiscent of last year's regular season matchup, Nebraska quickly found the end zone, taking just 34 seconds this time around. After a solid kick return, Taylor Martinez took over, and took advantage of a Washington defensive miscue along the way.

Martinez needed all of two plays to cover 53 yards, picking up 50 on the first play from scrimmage -- a long pass to Kenny Bell. On the next play, Martinez rolled to his right and found Tyler Legate for the touchdown, giving Nebraska an early 7-0 lead.

But unlike the last year's September matchup, the Huskies quickly answered back, driving 80 yards in six plays for the score. Keith Price found Jermaine Kearse for 38 yards and the touchdown, knotting the score at seven.

Nebraska added a field goal later in the first, but the defenses finally found their groove along the way. Since the early barrage of scoring, it's been a slog, with both teams stalling on the offensive side of the back.

Near the end of the first quarter, Nebraska leads Washington, 10-7.
