Florida may not be the same sort of dominant team that Urban Meyer won two national championships with, but the Gators have dominated Tennessee so far in Will Muschamp's first SEC game as a head coach. The Gators lead, 16-0, in the second quarter in Gainesville.
Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis has followed an early touchdown from John Brantley to Trey Burton with three first half field goals, and he's gotten the opportunities to kick them because of Florida's overwhelming defense.
Since Justin Hunter left the game on Tennessee's first offensive series, the Vols have failed to earn even one first down, repeatedly giving the Gators great field position. And Chris Rainey compounded the Vols' field position problems by blocking a punt, the fifth of his Florida career.
But old red zone woes have kept the Gators from turning this game into a blowout. Florida's had first downs at Tennessee's 11- and 13-yard line and come away with only field goals.
