Florida State Vs. Oklahoma Preview: The Big Game Draws Near

Stay connected with SB Nation

You've no doubt heard by now that Florida State is facing the media and coaches' No. 1 team in the nation tonight when they square off at home with the Oklahoma Sooners. This has traditionally not been an endeavor in which Florida State has enjoyed great success.

In fact, Florida State is 1-5 against the top-ranked teams all time, as the St. Petersburg Times points out. (Check out the 2001 result there for your completely irrelevant historical tidbit.) The only win against a No. 1 team came in 1996 against Florida -- and the Gators promptly defeated the Seminoles in the postseason that year to take home the national championship.

But back to this year. If you're still looking for a thorough dissection of the game, Tomahawk Nation has you covered with lengthy previews of the Florida State offense against the Oklahoma defense and the Oklahoma offense against the Florida State defense. Meanwhile, Crimson and Cream Machine sees Roy Finch as a potential X-factor for the Sooners in the game.

Keep an eye on those two blogs as the game approaches and after kickoff for more. And as always, check in with our college football Saturday stream for all the news and scores.
