Another week, another blowout for Russell Wilson and the Wisconsin Badgers. This time, it was Northern Illinois getting clocked, a 49-7 stomping at Soldier Field that saw Northern Illinois fail to score for almost the final 47 minutes of the game.
The Badgers piled up 623 yards on the day, keyed as always by Wilson. The superstar transfer quarterback was 23-of-32 passing for 347 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He rushed for 39 yards on seven carries. And Montee Ball and James White had 91 rushing yards each and three touchdowns between them. None of the eight receivers Wilson hit had more than 80 yards, which gives you an idea of how well he spreads the ball around.
NIU, for its part, could only manage 236 yards. The ground game was largely shut down, with the Huskies rushing for just 63 yards. The longest run of the day was for 15 yards. Chandler Harnish was 15-of-24 passing for 165 yards.
Wisconsin's next opponent is South Dakota. It seems unlikely that the Coyotes will be the one to stop the Badgers onslaught.
