There's no blackout in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, but the Illinois Fighting Illini lead the Arizona St. Sun Devils at halftime, 10-7. Illinois took advantage of a short punt by Arizona State on the initial drive of the game. Starting at the Sun Devils' 38-yard line, Illini quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase's 14-yard pass put the drive inside the 10. Jason Ford eventually found the end zone on a one-yard touchdown run.
Arizona State's Brock Osweiler countered with a scoring drive of his own. After slowly edging his way up the field on the drive, Osweiler had the big third-down play with a 22-yard completion Aaron Pflugrad. Not to limit himself to one big play, Osweiler hit Gerrell Robinson for a 21-yard touchdown on another 3rd-and-6 opportunity.
However, Illinois added a 20-yard field goal with three minutes left in the first quarter. They went went scoreless in the second quarter, putting the halftime score at 10-7 in favor of Illinois.
