The Illinois Fighting Illini held a halftime lead over the Arizona St. Sun Devils, but then saw that slip away at the start of the fourth quarter when Brock Osweiler rushed for the Sun Devils' go-ahead touchdown. However, Osweiler's counterpart, Nathan Scheelhaase took advantage of an Arizona State pass interference penalty a couple of series later to move to the Sun Devils' 26-yard line. After picking up another set of down, Scheelhaase connected with A.J. Jenkins for the 16-yard score, the 17-14 lead and the eventual victory.
This was Illinois first win over a ranked team (Arizona State was No. 22) for the first time in four years. Arizona State's Osweiler completed 25-of-45 passes, but he threw two interceptions. They will face the USC Trojans at home next week.
The Illini host Western Michigan at home for their next game. The Broncos destroyed Central Michigan, 44-14, this week, but Illinois isn't going to be a pushover.
