Oklahoma State Vs. Tulsa: Start Time Will Be After Midnight

Oklahoma State and Tulsa will try to make a go of it, but it may be Sunday morning by the time the game actually gets underway. Severe weather in Tulsa put the Cowboys and Golden Hurricane in a holding pattern, waiting out lightning for hours. The stadium was evacuated and all fell silent, except for the crackle and boom of heavy thunderstorms.

Finally, the teams are preparing to take the field at 11:55 p.m. local time. But they won't kickoff then, instead coming out for warmups just five minutes before midnight. This game may not end until three or four a.m. in Tulsa.

But the question becomes: Can Tulsa and Oklahoma actually play? Bylawblog has the rules.

There is an NCAA bylaw that prohibits athletic activity between 12 AM and 5 AM. There is an exception for games that start before midnight. Not sure if starting includes taking the field for warm-ups or actually starting the game.

Crazy as it sounds, they might be taking the field for warmups in order to get the game underway now, instead of later. And yes, this is absolutely insane, to be clear. A sleepover game is a new one for me.
