Florida State Vs. Clemson: Clint Trickett Starting In Place Of Injured E.J. Manuel

Stay connected with SB Nation

Florida State will be playing Clemson for pole position in the ACC's Atlantic Division without their first-string quarterback this Saturday. Redshirt freshman Clint Trickett will start while E.J. Manuel recovers from injuries sustained against Oklahoma.

Trickett entered Florida State's loss against Oklahoma in the second half, and proceeded to complete seven of 15 throws for 134 yards and a touchdown. Manuel completed 13 of 19 passes against Oklahoma, but for just 85 yards; he also threw two interceptions.

Then again, Trickett's touchdown came on a fluky jump ball that Rashad Greene snagged and took to pay dirt, and was sacked five times in the fourth quarter alone. If he's going to help Florida State win this Saturday, Trickett will need better protection from his line.
