The Temple Owls are probably going to the Big East, while the Maryland Terrapins play in the conference that stands to pick the Big East apart. Are we sure Maryland shouldn't have been included in the deal that brought Pitt and Syracuse over?
Temple won, 38-7, which isn't anywhere close to what's supposed to happen in a game like this. Temple's Bernard Pierce is going to be named to quite a few Player of the Week lists after a five-touchdown, 149-yard day. Craziest stat: Temple lost the turnover battle, 1 to 0. Special teams helped doom the Terps -- they averaged only 20.6 yards on their six punts -- and they couldn't keep Danny O'Brien clean, giving up six sacks.
O'Brien's counterpart, Chester Stewart, was a perfect nine-for-nine passing. Yep, Temple only passed nine times.
Maryland, of course, recently fired the reigning ACC Coach of the Year and replaced him with an awesome video of Under Armour's logo punching itself in the forehead. Just wanted to point that out again. Will probably keep pointing that out for a long time.
