Notre Dame Vs. Pittsburgh Final Score: Irish Come Back For 15-12 Win

Stay connected with SB Nation

Notre Dame's 2011 hasn't been remotely pretty. But after an ugly 15-12 win over Pittsburgh, the Irish are at least back to .500 on the season.

Tommy Rees made up for a day of struggles with a clutch game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, completing all eight of his throws on an 11-play, 85-yard drive and throwing both the touchdown pass and two-point conversion to Tyler Eifert. Rees completed just 24 of his 41 passes for a paltry 216 yards, but that one drive helped push the Irish past an equally futile Pitt team.

Notre Dame outgained Pitt, 398-268, but two Irish turnovers in the first half helped Pitt stay close. The Irish sealed their win by pressuring Tino Sunseri on Pittsburgh's late comeback attempt, then ran out the clock with a drive that included a fourth and one quarterback sneak from Rees.
