No. 14 Arkansas is a really good team. But No. 3 Alabama made them look like just another stepping stone.

Alabama Vs. Arkansas Final Score: Tide Further Assert Dominance

Would you believe that, early on, the Arkansas Razorbacks once looked capable of going toe-to-toe with the Alabama Crimson Tide? It was 7-7 early in the first quarter, but 17-7 Alabama at the half and 38-14 by late in the third quarter. Nick Saban judged that lead to be sufficient, and there the score remained.

Watching this game was to watch Alabama's defense quickly figure out what the Razorbacks were doing on offense. Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson was 10-of-12 after that first touchdown, but 12-of-23 thereafter. He finished with 185 yards and an interception that went for a Bama score. He gave it everything he had throughout, taking a flattening hit in the chin on his second touchdown pass.

At one point, Wilson was assigned a hidden-ball play. He held the ball behind his back after play action, then fired it deep. Double coverage despite an invisible football, somehow.

Trent Richardson ran for his requisite 123 yards, A.J. McCarron didn't louse anything up and that was that. That one drive aside, Alabama treated a powerful Arkansas team as if it was Kent State or North Texas.

Alabama Vs. Arkansas Halftime Score: Tide Defense Ties Hogs Offense

A 25-yard interception return by the Alabama Crimson Tide's DeQuan Menzie gave Bama's D as many points as the Arkansas Razorbacks' entire team mustered in the first half. In fact, if not for an early scoring drive during which Tyler Wilson looked unstoppable, that pick six would've outgained Arkansas' offense as well. Alabama leads, 17-7.

Bama has 96 yards rushing to Arkansas' negative-six, led by Trent Richardson's 65 on eight carries. As the game goes on, it's clear Arkansas is going to have to work harder and harder to move the ball, but the Tide offense has been able to make enough plays to build a lead that's got to look ominous to Arkansas fans right now.

Don't be surprised if A.J. McCarron spends a lot of time handing off until Bobby Petrino proves his squad can consistently gain yardage in Bryant-Denny. McCarron's thrown two incompletions in 12 attempts, good for 114 yards.

Alabama Vs. Arkansas Score: A.J. McCarron, Tyler Wilson Trade Shots

The quarterbacks have stood out early in the SEC West brawl between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Arkansas Razorbacks. After A.J. McCarron went five-for-five on his way to 70 yards and a 37-yard touchdown pass to Michael Williams on a fake field goal, counterpart Tyler Wilson missed once in 12 attempts and found Dennis Johnson for 10 yards to even it at 7-7 in the first quarter.

Here's video of that fake field goal, via SportsGrid:

Long-drive scoring ceased at the end of the period, with the Hogs defense forcing the game's first punt.

Alabama's offense has used a more balanced attack this year, as far as running and passing go, perhaps since the loss of Mark Ingram. But they still have Trent Richardson. And they also lost Julio Jones. I don't know. So far today, they've kept Arkansas' defense on guard, but the Razorbacks have still forced a pair of fourth downs.
