Kent State Vs. Alabama: Game Time, TV Schedule, Odds And More

Alabama will use the season opener against Kent State to help settle the quarterback battle between AJMcCarron and Phillip Sims.

Alabama is ranked second in both the AP and the USA Today Coaches poll heading into the season. Kent State went 5-7 last year against a MAC schedule. Though anything can always happen on any given Saturday, there is no doubt that the Crimson Tide expect  to win this game and win big. Alabama will once again factor into the national championship race, but they will need to figure out the situation at quarterback first. Both Phillip Sims and AJ McCarron are expected to play in the opener, adding intrigue to what, in theory, should be a laugher of a game. Whoever performs better will have a leg-up to start the following week against No. 25 Penn State.

Spencer Keith will once again start at quarterback for the Golden Flashes. He performed well on occasion last season but was hardly a world beater, completing 59 percent of his passes for 2,212 yards, eight touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Last year's leading rusher Jacquise Terry returns as well, along with leading receiver Tyshon Goode.

Game date, time: 12:20 pm ET, Saturday, Sept. 3

Location: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, AL

TV channel: ESPN Gameplan/ESPN 3
