The Virginia Tech Hokies announced they've signed longtime head football coach Frank Beamer to a new six-year deal. Here's athletic director Jim Weaver on the long-term contract:
"I am very pleased that head football coach Frank Beamer has signed a new contract with the university that will take us through the 2016 season," Weaver said. "Frank has done an outstanding job in his 24 years at Virginia Tech and we look forward to his continued leadership as we strive to win a national championship."
In his time as head coach, Beamer has led Virginia Tech from independence to the Big East to the ACC, where he's set up shop as the conference's current most successful coach. Since the ACC realigned in 2004, the Hokies have won the league four times and picked up an Orange Bowl victory. He's about to be 199-95-2 in Blacksburg after Saturday.
