Couldn't agree more with the Navy Midshipmen coach's sentiments here:
"We'd like to stay who we are," Niumatalolo said. "We like the freedom of being independent. We recruit nationally, so we like to go into homes and say ‘We'll be playing close to your home.' We like the independent schedule."

If Air Force gets into the Big East just for football
or gets in a automatic BCS bid conference, Navy is going to want to do the same. There’ no way I can see the Mids wanting to let the best prospective service academy recruits all go to AF by default. Second this is that Army will do whatever Navy does, so if the Big East takes Navy, they almost definitely have to take Army as well.
IF Navy thinks the Big East is its best fit, it will be because a good combination of Army, Air Force, Notre Dame, and Maryland are also in the Big East. We can cross off the Terps joining the Big East because it’s in the ACC, so among these remaining three, at least two should also be agreeable to Big East football, and Notre Dame, not surprisingly is the least likely to join the Big East.
