Missouri Vs. Arizona State Final Score: Sun Devils Win In Overtime, 37-30

What looked like a sure Arizona State win turned into a frantic finish as the Missouri Tigers made up a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter, capped by a touchdown on fourth and goal inside the five. Arizona State took the lead early and hung on for dear life throughout, widening the gap early in the fourth quarter on a Brock Osweiler rushing touchdown. But Missouri was far from down-and out.

What followed was 14 unanswered points to tie the game at 30 with 2:40 to go. James Franklin found L'Damian Washington for 25 yards and the score to cut the Arizona State lead to seven, then found Michael Egnew for a three-yard touchdown on fourth down.

After an Arizona State three-and-out, Missouri took over from inside its own 10-yard-line, quickly moving downfield on a long first down rush by Henry Josey. But the Tigers stalled in Sun Devil territory, setting up a game-winning field goal from 47 yards with just 17 seconds left on the clock. And, of course, Gary Pinkel called a timeout to ice his own kicker ... twice. This actually happened.

Pinkel's strategy worked to perfection as Grant Ressel missed the kick in what was a fitting way for this game to progress.

Arizona State scored first in overtime as Osweiler found Jamal Miles for the touchdown, putting Missouri on the ropes. The Sun Devils' defense held, forcing a fourth and five at the 20 as Missouri struggle to get out of neutral. And with the game on the line, Missouri was unable to come up with another big play as the pass fell incomplete.

You final score in Tempe: Arizona State 37, Missouri 30.

Arizona State Vs. Missouri Score: Tigers Answer After Comedy Of Errors

The Missouri Tigers aren't dead yet, despite falling behind by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. After Aaron Pflugrad found the end zone on a trick play to put the Sun Devils up by seven, Brock Osweiler rumbled into the end zone to make it a 14-point lead early in the final frame.*

*HEY GUYS DID YOU HEAR BROCK OSWEILER IS 6-FOOT-8 AND WAS GOING TO PLAY BASKETBALL AT GONZAGA?!? 6-FOOT-8! HOW DID NOBODY MENTION THIS BEFORE! HE'S SO TALL!

But thanks to penalties and a comedy of errors, Missouri had a perfect chance to answer, closing the deficit to a touchdown. A dropped punt by Jamal Miles set the Tigers up in Arizona State territory and a pass interference call on third and long gave Missouri a fresh set of downs.

James Franklin took advantage on the next play, finding L'Damian Washington for 25 yards and the touchdown. With just about 12 minutes to go in the fourth, Arizona State still leads Missouri, though, 30-23.

Missouri Vs. Arizona State: Aaron Pflugrad Adds Another Touchdown

Arizona State is working on collecting all of the penalties, but Missouri has been unable to take advantage, settling for two field goals in the third quarter. The second field goal, which came after the Tigers were stuffed on the one-yard-line, tied the game at 16 as Missouri crawled back from a six-point halftime deficit.

Arizona State's quick-strike offense struck again on the next possession as Brock Osweiler led the Sun Devils down the field, setting up a bit of trickeration. On first and 10 from the Missouri 35, Osweiler delivered a pass to Jamal Miles, who calmly hit Aaron Pflugrad on a trick play for the touchdown.

Pflugrad has been on fire, catching four passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns on the night. Miles has four catches for 30 yards and a receiving score to go with his 35-yard touchdown pass.

In the third quarter, the Sun Devils lead the Tigers, 23-16.

Missouri Vs. Arizona State Score: Brock Osweiler Hits

Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler connected with senior wide receiver Aaron Pflugrad on a 60-yard touchdown pass to give the Sun Devils a 16-10 lead over No. 21 midway through the second quarter.

The extra point was blocked, which could be a factor later in the game.

Osweiler's strike came just moments after Missouri Tigers sophomore quarterback James Franklin tied the score on a two-yard touchdown run that capped a 12-play, 70-yard drive that was extended by a little bit of luck. Two plays before his touchdown, Franklin fumbled near the goal-line, but Missouri retained possession. An incomplete pass on third down was negated by a questionable pass interference penalty on Arizona State cornerback Osahon Irabor that gave Missouri a first-and-goal from the Sun Devils' 2-yard line.

Franklin scored on the very next play.

Missouri Vs. Arizona State Score: Brock Osweiler Leads Sun Devils To Early Lead

Whether the black uniforms had anything to do with it or not, the Arizona St. Sun Devils took a 7-3 lead over the Missouri Tigers on the arm of Brock Osweiler. Starting at his own 23-yard line, Osweiler led an aerial attack during the middle of the drive by connecting with Gerell Robinson on a 51-yard reception, putting the team at Missouri's 15-yard line. He found Jamal Miles for a 12-yard touchdown to end the drive.

Osweiler, a 6-foot-8 quarterback, is already 6-of-8 for 113 yards, averaging 14.1 yards per pass attempt. The ground game has just 14 yards so far.

Missouri put together a solid drive after Arizona State's touchdown, but quarterback James Franklin came up short on 3rd-and 2. A bad snap hurt the play, which led to a field goal.
