So you’re a Florida State alumnus, you really love this year’s edition of the Seminoles on both sides of the ball and you think their current No. 5 ranking in the polls is lower than this fantastic team should be.
Do you still want to back your team as 53.5-point favorites?
FSU’s BCS aspirations have clearly weighed on the minds of oddsmakers who made them nearly 8-TD chalk Saturday against Division II Charleston Southern. True, this is a glorified practice session and true most Vegas and online sportsbooks won’t even have odds posted on the game.
"It’s one of those silly-season type of situations where oddsmakers really want to have a line on every game to keep fans and alumni happy," said Mike Pickett of OddsShark.com.
Other Division II schools are among the Top 5 biggest underdogs of the week in college football. Norfolk State, Florida Atlantic, Maine and Eastern Illinois are all road dogs of 31 points or more.
But it’s not just the non-board smaller schools that are getting huge head starts from the oddsmakers. Fresno State is a 28-point dog at Nebraska, while Nevada gets 26.5 points for its visit to Oregon. The Ducks are not doing swimmingly after getting smashed for 40 points by LSU last week and oddsmakers clearly feel they will take out their frustrations on the Wolf Pack.
UAB is also a big road dog of 23.5 points as they head to Florida to face the Gators.
