NFL Draft 2012: Robert Griffin III Officially Announces Exit From Baylor

Stay connected with SB Nation

Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III officially announced Wednesday that he's leaving for the NFL, saying at his final Baylor press conference, "I pray that I will have the blessing of my coaches and teammates as I move onto the NFL," and asking fans to continue to support Baylor football in the future.

The Heisman Trophy winner said he's achieved his collegiate goals -- he's earned a degree from Baylor and gotten engaged, to boot. He led the Bears to the best season in their Big 12 history and perhaps their best season ever.

As for his NFL chances, most mock drafts have him going in the top 10, especially with Matt Barkley returning to the USC Trojans. SBNation.com's latest 2012 mock draft sent him No. 4 to the Cleveland Browns, adding the following note:

At this point, I would be more shocked if Cleveland kept Colt McCoy than if they traded up in the draft to secure RG3. Washington and Miami (and maybe others), will be circling RG3, so trading up is the only sure way they can nab him. They need some talent to pair with him, but this is a big upgrade for Cleveland.
