Mack Brown Getting Four-Year Contract Extension, According To Report

Texas is extending Mack Brown's contract from here to eternity, based on reports.

Texas Longhorns head coach Mack Brown, the subject of rumors regarding both his retirement and his firing just weeks ago, is in the process of having his contract re-done, according to the Associated Press. Re-done like how? Well, re-done like $20-something million more coming his way, according to the Austin American-Statesman's Kirk Bohls:

kbohls@kbohls Despite a 13-12 record over two seasons, Texas extends Mack Brown four years and has now nine years left on contract at $5.2M per. #ut

Not entirely sure why such a thing would be necessary (which team was trying to hire away Mack Brown?), but there's the report. Brown's record at Texas is 141-39 with a national championship, but posting two consecutive sixth-place finishes in the Big 12 despite fielding the country's best resources will tend to warm a coach's seat, not earn a decade-long contract. But, heyyy, it's your money, Texas.
