If Greg Schiano leaves Rutgers, where do the Scarlet Knights turn next?
Greg Schiano, perhaps the best coach in Rutgers Scarlet Knights history (with all apologies to Frank Burns), is reportedly leaving to take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers job. He'll leave as the only coach to ever win a bowl game at Rutgers -- he won five of them in the past six years, in fact.
So who's going to take over in Jersey?
Let's get the immediate names out of the way: no, Chris Petersen and Gary Patterson and Jon Gruden aren't going to come to Rutgers. Now that we can move on, here's a sensible list:
@BFeldmanCBS If Schiano gets Bucs job, I'd think Rutgers will look closely at Delaware coach KC Keeler as well as exRU asst Darren Rizzi.
Keeler has led the Blue Hens to a FCS national championship, twice reached the title game otherwise, and has been a postseason regular for his entire career. Rizzi has head coaching experience at two stops, but nothing quite as glamorous as Keeler.
