Maybe it just seems to the normal human's eye that Chip Kelly moves really quickly. Maybe it's all just relativity, and maybe he actually moves very, very slowly. So when we saw multiple reports from both coasts that he'd taken the Bucs job and then decided to stay at Oregon, maybe he was really only spending a Kelly Minute pondering it. We've always thought of a Kelly Minute as being about one Earth Second, but maybe it's more like a whole Earth Evening. Think about it.
Either way, Kelly's denied he took the job, quoting Wedding Crashers along the way. Audio is here.
Kelly has to say this sort of thing, especially with signing day within a week and a 2013 class that needs building right after that. But, as Oregon blog Addicted to Quack points out:
All in all, I don't think this will put to bed the chances of Kelly eventually jumping to the NFL. You could look at Kelly's comment of "deep down inside" from either perspective. Either Kelly doesn't have that answer yet and won't until he actually coaches in the NFL, or Kelly looked at the NFL and realized that it didn't offer the relationships he has now.
