New Texas A&M Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin left the Houston Cougars for what will be one of the smallest salaries in the SEC, giving himself the chance to court top defensive coordinator talent. Sounds like everything is going to plan, with the man responsible for a top-five 2011 defense reportedly in College Station as we speak, according to Billy Liucci of TexAgs.com:
@billyliucci Michigan St DC Pat Narduzzi in Aggieland today as Sumlin works to land his guy.
Narduzzi's Michigan St. Spartans defense, including top talents like Jerel Worthy and William Gholston, finished the regular season ranked No. 5 and was good enough to win a January bowl against the SEC East-champion Georgia Bulldogs, giving up only 21 points in an overtime'd Outback Bowl.
He has no clear connections to the state of Texas or the SEC. Previous stops included Cincinnati, Miami and Northern Illinois.
