The GoDaddy.com Bowl may not have one of the more distinguished names of the 2011-12 bowl season, but the two teams playing in it, Northern Illinois and Arkansas State, are putting on a perfectly respectable show. Northern Illinois leads, 21-13, at halftime.
The Huskies got that lead by running off 21 straight points to counter a 13-0 salvo from Arkansas State to open the game. Dual-threat quarterback Chandler Harnish, who left the game briefly with an injury, has thrown for 171 yards and a touchdown, but has been limited to just five rushing yards. Jordan Lynch, who spelled the injured Harnish, threw for 64 yards in his absence, and also ran for a touchdown. Jamal Womble has just two carries for three yards on the night, but his one-yard touchdown run to end the half both came on fourth and short from the Arkansas State 1 and was his first career touchdown run.
Arkansas State's Ryan Aplin has thrown for 166 yards — 132 to Taylor Stockemer on seven receptions — and run for a touchdown, but the Red Wolves haven't scored since the first quarter.
