The University of Akron will hold a press conference Thursday morning to announce the hiring of former Ohio State head coach and Indianapolis Colts adviser Jim Tressel, according to a report by WEWS in Ohio.

The University of Akron is holding a news conference Thursday morning regarding the hiring of Jim Tressel.

The school sent a news release saying the event will feature President Luis Proenza and Jim Tressel, but did not specify a position.

A spokesperson for the school told NewsChannel5 Tressel will make about $200,000 per year.

As of right now, what Tressel will be hired for is unknown but it was reported on Wednesday that Tressel would be taking an administrative position. Tressel spent this past season as an adviser for the Indianapolis Colts after he was fired from Ohio State. Tressel reportedly helped in the school's head coaching search that resulted in the hiring of Terry Bowden, which is when Akron became interested in hiring him.
