The Florida Gators have extended the contract of head coach Will Muschamp, according to the Sporting News' Matt Hayes. His deal will now reportedly run through 2016, having been originally scheduled to last through 2015. The deal he signed when he took over called for him to be paid right around $2.75 million per year all total, ranking him in the middle of the SEC.
In his first year, Florida went 7-6 and secured a bowl win, but finished with a 3-5 SEC record in a weak SEC East. Gators players have also racked up 10 arrests during Muschamp's time in Gainesville. However, he was able to put together the nation's consensus No. 3 recruiting class in 2012 and already has a major head start on 2013, not to mention upgrading (according to ... many) his offensive coordinator position by hiring Brent Pease away from Boise State.
