LSU Tigers women's soccer star Mo Isom is trying out for the football team this spring. The men's football team, we should specify. As first related to our own And The Valley Shook, Isom has spent part of the last year working on field goals and extra points, and will have a multi-day tryout during the Tigers' spring practice period, which began late last week.
There's no video of her kicking an American football on an American football field just yet, but we do have some words from the lady herself. Via her Facebook page:
Absolutely overwhelmed and humbled by all of the amazing support that has been pouring in surrounding tryouts. There is so much power in prayer, so please know that I truly appreciate every single one of you! Today is the first of a 3-day tryout, so I would appreciate continued prayer through this week. I will keep you all posted on results!
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." --Philippians 4:6
Positivity! And to the Shreveport Times:
"People's first presumption about this is that it's a media stunt or some attempt for attention and glory," Isom said in an interview with Gannett Tuesday night. "That couldn't be any farther from the truth. I feel it was a goal God placed in my heart. It's just something I want to do."
More! Isom would become the first female college football player in almost a decade if she's able to make the team.
