Arkansas Coaching Candidate Odds Favor Gus Malzahn, Garrick McGee

By now, we've all learned not to be surprised that one can gamble on absolutely anything having anything to do with sports. With little else going on (I'm told it's almost hockey season), the Arkansas Razorbacks coaching hunt becomes the biggest story in the football world. You'll not be surprised to see Gus Malzahn and Garrick McGee drawing the shortest odds, but there's Skip Holtz's name again, right near the top. It just keeps showing up!

From Bovada.lv:

Who will be the next Head Coach to be hired for the Arkansas Razorbacks?

  • Gus Malzahn 5/2
  • Garrick McGee 3/1
  • Skip Holtz 7/2
  • Mario Cristobal 5/1
  • Kirby Smart 6/1
  • Gary Patterson 10/1
  • Butch Davis 15/1
  • Charlie Strong 15/1
  • Jimmy Johnson 20/1

What will happen next for Bobby Petrino?
Member of NFL coaching staff -200 (1/2)
Member of NCAA coaching staff +150 (3/2)

Charlie Strong's odds are mighty attractive, as he's certainly a more likely hire than Butch Davis. If he thinks his Cards don't get enough media attention, he might really like the SEC West's more involved climate. Butch Davis isn't happening, nor is Jimmy Johnson. Mario Cristobal, Kirby Smart or Gary Patterson could all be tremendous hires, but they've all turned down offers before.

As for those Petrino odds, let's hit NFL hard here, yes?
