Jessica Dorrell Hired Over Nick Saban-Recommended Former LSU Player

Stay connected with SB Nation

Not only was Bobby Petrino's apparent mistress hired over 158 other applicants for that Arkansas Razorbacks athletic department job, at least one of them looks to have been very highly qualified. According to Fayetteville's 40/29 Sports, former LSU Tigers starter Ben Wilkerson was one of three finalists, along with experienced Arkansas recruiting assistant Tiffany Fields.

Among Wilkerson's reported references were Nick Saban, Les Miles, Jimbo Fisher, Will Muschamp and Derek Dooley, while Fields countered with Garrick McGee (who just might be the next head coach at Arkansas). Dorrell's references were some Arkansas suits and not super famous football coaches.

Petrino coached Wilkerson in 2007, during his year with the Atlanta Falcons. Wilkerson also played for the Bengals, putting together a 32-game NFL career. Playing in the NFL and knowing a bunch of coaches doesn't make for a qualified student-athlete development coordinator, of course, but it makes for a look at what kind of competition Petrino turned away in order to get Dorrell on staff.

While we're here, let's watch some college football videos from SB Nation's new YouTube channel together:
