The Alabama Crimson Tide are in D.C. to visit President Barack Obama at the White House, in recognition of their latest national championship. The stability of the free world demands they not drop the president while carrying him, as he cannot easily be replaced by Waterford Crystal.
Obama begins his day Thursday with his regular national security briefing and will meet with senior advisers later in the Oval Office.
In the afternoon, the Crimson Tide will be honored at a South Lawn ceremony for winning their 14th national championship.
It's been a mighty Southern week at Obama's place, with NASCAR emissary Tony Stewart honored on Tuesday. This will be Alabama's second trip in three years and the third straight to feature a team from the state.
