Here Come The Robert Griffin III Criticisms

Stay connected with SB Nation

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III has been marked for the Washington Redskins since they traded up to the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Griffin has been one of the more personable and seemingly marketable players to come out in the NFL Draft in quite some time. There has been tons of praise heaped on Griffin for his personality, intelligence, work ethic, and character - so it was just a matter of time before criticism sprang up.

According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn, two scouts noted that Griffin's personality leaves a bit to be desired.

"As much as is written about his athleticism, his athleticism under duress in the pocket isn't even close to Cam Newton's. This guy, the only way he gets big plays with his feet is if he's got a wide-open field and the sea opens for him. He's got a little bit of a selfish streak, too. Everybody was laying on Cam, but for some reason this guy has become gloves off. He doesn't treat anybody good." Another scout also questioned the way Griffin deals with people.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton dealt with a lot of this leading up to the draft last season, but by all accounts is just fine in the locker room and a team leader. It's not shocking for reports like this to surface from scouts a week away from the draft, as teams try to create smoke in the hopes of a player falling to them.
