The SMU Mustangs opened spring football on Monday, and June Jones is getting right down to business. Wide receiver Darius Johnson and linebacker Taylor Reed have already been excused from drills. The coach says the two have things to take care of before they'll be able to return to practice.

Just last week, Jones praised Reed for putting on weight and said he planned to move Johnson around in offense to keep him challenged— Kate Hairopoulos (@khairopoulos) April 2, 2012
Johnson led the run 'n' shoot attack in receiving yards with 1,118, while Reed posted the team's highest tackles total, adding 9.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. As this is now Monday, it does not appear Houston's April Fools day spirit has spread elsewhere throughout Conference USA.
