Georgia's Bacarri Rambo Powered By Drug Policies, Not Drugs

Stay connected with SB Nation

Georgia Bulldogs safety Bacarri Rambo appears to be unimpressed with the University of Georgia's strict drug policy, which is set to cost him the first four games of 2011. His side of the story is that he accidentally ate some pot brownies while on spring break, but rules are rules.

And UGA fans don't appear to disagree with him:

Whereas most schools in the SEC tacitly admit that they are going to have players who will use pot on a recreational basis and try to manage the situation to ensure that the players don't go overboard, Georgia is caught up in actively trying to ferret out any evidence of marijuana use among its players. The Dawgs have not gotten the memo that has made the rounds in the rest of the SEC.

To me, this is insanely stupid behavior on the part of the Georgia football program.

Georgia football has developed a reputation as a den of abandon, but the Dawgs often go above and beyond in disciplining their (frequently bountiful) troublemakers, as the school's drug policy demonstrates. Mark Richt's tradition of being publicly shamed for an accidental butt dial every couple months is another example. That kind of thing that might be ignored at other schools. Nobody's perfect, of course, but when you're surrounded by Athens police, you sort of have to remain ultra-vigilant.

Of course, the good news for Dawgs fans from Rambo's tweet: he's apparently not entering the Supplemental Draft now.

While we're here, let's watch some college football videos from SB Nation's new YouTube channel together:
