Kevin Sumlin Probably Won't Be Talking Up Texas A&M's Depth This Year

New Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin is doing a fine job of selling a competitive spring game stocked with starters, though one can't help but worry about the self-esteem of his walk-ons after lines like these:

  • "We can't afford to give that day away with guys out that there nobody knows who they are."
  • "I just don't want to go out there Saturday and have our quarterbacks throw to guys, just because we split a team to have a game, throwing to guys with no names on their back that will never play for us."
  • "The way it is for us numbers wise, scholarship wise, we can't put two teams out there that are quality."
  • "You're going to have a future pro offensive line blocking somebody you've never heard of, which isn't right."
