Phillip Sims, the former backup to A.J. McCarron at Alabama, is on his way out of the program, and it's looking likely he heads to a school in the state of Virginia. But will it be the University of Virginia? If the word on Friday is correct, Sims may be checking out the Cavaliers sooner rather than later.
The report, from Jerry Ratcliffe:
UVa source just told me that Virginia is in receipt of a release from Alabama with permission to talk to QB Phillip Sims.

Should he settle down with Virginia, it would be a move that brings him closer to home. Sims hails from nearby Chesapeake, so Virginia would be quite logical, if it does come to pass. Without a restriction on his release to Virginia, Sims' life is quite a bit easier than some of the other cases we've seen lately, as well.
