Two days after Howard University's athletics programs were apparently suspended, then apparently not suspended, all is apparently good for the Bison, as spring sports will continue as planned.
The school had this to say, via Facebook:
Student athletes who were declared ineligible to compete by Howard University last Friday have been reinstated. As a result of this decision, all spring sports teams will compete as scheduled for the remainder of the season.
The school will continue its internal investigation into the reports that student-athletes had been misusing textbook vouchers - i.e., spending them on things that weren't textbooks, which is a no-no with the NCAA. Schools are allowed to pay for athlete's textbooks, but the Washington Post reports players speaking anonymously thought others were pocketing some of the cash. If the players the school was investigating have been reinstated, this means they may have returned the money they took, which would make them eligible again.
Howard returned to the field today with a softball double-header, losing 2-1 in both games.
