On the long list of meaningless, irrelevant reasons to add a new color or helmet to a jersey, Arizona's excuse for its new copper helmet is still admirably pointless:
The Wildcats will wear copper helmets as part of a "special helmet design" that will represent the state and the university, athletic director Greg Byrne said in his weekly "Wildcat Wednesdays" newsletter.
The Arizona Daily Star has a picture of the helmet, which is Arizona's first to not be one of the school's red, white, or blue primary colors since at least 1960. Change has come under Rich Rod!
