Memphis head coach Justin Fuente has spent less time with the Tigers program than outgoing quarterback Taylor Reed has, yet Fuente still gets to bar Reed from transferring to a specific list of schools. That's par for the course, though. The real cause for tsk-tsking: the list includes schools Memphis won't even play by the time Reed's eligible to suit up again, as it is leaving Conference USA for the Big East next year.
Scott Reed, Taylor's father and the former head coach at Bartlett High, said the release prevents Taylor from transferring to a program in Conference USA or the Big East and also prohibits releasing him to several area schools, including Ole Miss, Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee.
It would indeed be awful for Memphis' chances of winning the Big East if, like, Marshall were to get a new quarterback.
