Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Tommy Rees was arrested at a house party on Wednesday night and was accused of assaulting a police officer. He had several charges filed against him, including a felony battery charge. While Rees is still likely in a whole mess of trouble as a result of the arrest, both he and the school received some encouraging news on Thursday.
Angelo Di Carlo of WNDU in South Bend reports that all of the charges will now be filed as misdemeanors, including an initial felony charge, which was reduced. This is excellent news for Rees personally, as Di Carlo points out that the Notre Dame handbook states any felony -- regardless of conviction -- could potentially result in an individual being removed fro the school.
