Three Texas Longhorn football players were arrested Sunday morning following a disturbance in downtown Austin.
Current Longhorns Alex Okafor, Kenny Vaccaro and Barrett Matthews were taken into custody along with former Texas player Eryon Barnett. According to a report from KXAN, all three players were charged with failure to obey a lawful order.
The incident reportedly occurred after police officers asked the men to leave a downtown establishment, but the players refused. The failure to obey a lawful order charge is a misdemeanor. Barnett was additionally charged with failure to identify himself.
Okafor and Vaccaro were major contributors to the Longhorn defense in 2011. Vaccaro finished third on the team with 82 tackles; Okafor was tied for sixth in tackles with 58 and was second on the team in sacks, with seven. Matthews, a senior tight end, caught two passes last season.
