After a lengthy battle that lasted all throughout spring camp and into June, Penn St. Nittany Lions coach Bill O'Brien announced Matt McGloin will again serve as PSU's starting quarterback, beating out Rob Bolden and Paul Jones for the job.

McGloin often struggled in the previous system, completing just 54 percent of his throws and putting up five interceptions. He also suffered a seizure just before the Nittany Lions' bowl game last year after getting into a practice fight with wide receiver Curtis Drake. But Bolden struggled even harder, throwing seven picks in just 135 attempts.

Jones, however, had been the fan base's favorite to take the reins, or so it's seemed. He's big, athletic, has a strong arm, and has stuck with Penn State despite some nagging academic troubles. However, since he's done so little that we can actually quantify, it could be that he's earned a following simply because he isn't McGloin or Bolden.

Either way, Penn State faithful must now hope McGloin is a better fit for O'Brien's attack than he was last year.
