Jake Stoneburner, Jack Mewhort Lose Ohio State Scholarships, According To Report

Ohio State Buckeyes tight end Jake Stoneburner and tackle Jack Mewhort were arrested in early June for evading police, then found themselves suspended from the Ohio State football team by head coach Urban Meyer. The two players were allegedly urinating in public between buildings, then ran away when questioned by police.

The indefinite suspensions have now turned into the two players losing their scholarships, the school announced to The Cleveland Plain Dealer on Friday, after the two players pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Ohio State football players Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort have lost their scholarships for the summer, will pay their own way for summer school and will have a chance to return to the football team, and to their scholarships, after the summer session.

Both players are key starters on the Buckeyes' offense, so it's no real surprise they were not just kicked off the football team entirely. According to the release, Stoneburner and Mewhort will be allowed to work out at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center but will not be able to work out with any other Buckeye players.
