Arizona Football: Nick Isham Transfer Adds To QB Competition

Former Louisiana Tech starter Nick Isham is transferring to play for Rich Rodriguez' Arizona Wildcats, adding to an already dense 2013 quarterback crop.

Isham started the first seven games of the 2011 season, in fact, completing 60.3 percent of his throws, gaining 1,457 yards and throwing seven picks. Even though he was La Tech's least nimble quarterback last year, he operated in a high school system that might prove more friendly to RichRod's.

Though dual threat Matt Scott is solid as this year's starter, Arizona Desert Swarm finds the depth chart to be rapidly filling up for next year:

UA head coach Rich Rodriguez inked a pair of quarterbacks in his inaugural recruiting class. Josh Kern was a Mike Stoops recruit who remained committed, despite the change in offensive philosophy. Kern is a 6-foot-5, pocket passing quarterback from Clark High (San Antonio). Javelle Allen is a dual threat QB from Prosper (Tex.) High who passed for 30 touchdowns, and rushed for 22 in his senior season.

The Wildcats also welcome aboard JUCO transfers B.J. Denker and Alex Cappellini. One of the four newcomers will back up Matt Scott this season, while also jockeying with Isham for next.
