Just over a month ago, Boise State was going forward with their move to the Big East. Now, with the deadline to withdraw from the Mountain West nearing, the Broncos are reconsidering the move and are in discussions with MWC about staying in the conference, according to a report from CBSSports.com.
The main factor causing Boise State to reconsider is the placement of their non-football sports. Only the Bronco football program is moving to Big East, with the other sports set to join the WAC. However, the WAC's instability has Boise State looking for other options.
If Boise State is going to withdraw from the MWC, they better do it fast. If the Broncos withdraw prior to July 1, they will pay a $2.5 million exit fee. If they withdraw after July 1, that fee increases $5 million and the school would have to forfeit their final year of league revenue, which could potentially cost them upwards of $24 million.
