Oklahoma Football Suspensions: Four Players To Lose Scholarships

Four important Oklahoma Sooner players may never suit up for the school again, nearly a month after they were suspended for violating team rules.

Head coach Bob Stoops told members of the media Wednesday that wide receivers Trey Franks, Kameel Jackson and Jaz Reynolds and defensive back Quentin Hayes have currently been "removed from their scholarships"

Stoops continued to say that the four players' future with the football program is still up in the air, and that's bad news for Sooners fans.

With these suspensions and uncertainly, the Sooners depth chart now shows junior Kenny Stills as the only wide receiver with any experience as a wideout on the roster. True freshman Trey Metoyer is the only other real WR talent capable of contributing to this football team entering the fall.

Metoyer is also the only newbie who was with the team this spring, as all other freshman receivers will not arrive on campus until the summer.

Depth at this position was already an issue for OU before these crippling suspensions were issued, as the Sooners moved junior Joe Powell from cornerback to wide receiver for the 2011 Insight Bowl.

Without these key players, Stoops and his coaching staff may have to get creative with their offensive game plans.
