How Hard Will Florida State Have To Punish Greg Reid?

Stay connected with SB Nation

Florida State cornerback and punt returner Greg Reid was arrested Tuesday night on weed possession and driver's license charges. While neither of those is a major anomaly for the average college student, the bad news for FSU and for Reid is that he's been in trouble before -- he missed a game in 2011 due to breaking a team rule.

As Tomahawk Nation breaks down, this could mean a two-game suspension or worse, if Reid's gotten in trouble with drugs before. The school's drug policy calls for two-time offenders to miss what amounts to two games of a football season and for third-strikers to be dismissed.

Rival fans are obviously interested in learning more about just which kind of violation this is. For the time being, all we know with certainty is that it's at least the first.

One of the country's more exciting all-around players, Reid had 27 tackles and two picks last year on the defensive side, producing 563 yards and a touchdown in the return game. He was a force in 2010, accruing 14 pass break-ups, six turnovers, 54 tackles, another punt return score, and even a little bit of offensive contribution.
