2012 Virginia Tech Football Preview: Fending Off The Pendulum Swing

Virginia Tech has won at least 10 games for seven straight years. If they do it for an eighth year this fall, with an incredibly thin offense, a shuffled secondary, and about as mean a schedule as you can have in the ACC Coastal Division, then we'll just assume they'll do it every year until Frank Beamer retires.

2012 Florida State Football Preview: The Greatness Drought

Yes, we've been here before. "This is the year Florida State puts it all together, we promise!" et cetera. But if you are of the mind to roll your eyes at preseason "[Random Former Power] is back!!!" proclamations, you might want to take your shots at the 'Noles now. In four months, you might not have the opportunity anymore.

2012 Clemson Football Preview: Greatness And Dumpster Fires

Clemson both improved and regressed last season, surging on offense, figuring out how to win close games, and completely falling apart defensively. Can a new defensive coordinator and further experience in the offensive skill positions make up for quite a bit of attrition in the trenches?

2012 Miami Football Preview: The Perched Hammer

Al Golden was a brave man to keep the Miami football job after Nevin Shapiro became a household name. But as he and his Hurricanes await the NCAA's hammer, he should put a young, entertaining and flawed team on the field in 2012.

2012 Boston College Football Preview: Present Vs. Precedent

After three years as Boston College head coach, Frank Spaziani has proved himself to be ... a great assistant. Spaziani has an odd amount of job security, evidently, but if he has a rebound in him, we will begin to find out this year.

2012 Georgia Tech Football Preview: The Forward Pass, Volume II

Paul Johnson has won eight or more games in three of four seasons at Georgia Tech. His fun Flexbone will need contributions from a completely unknown set of receivers in 2012 (that, or the defense could actually try to carry its weight for once), but it only takes a couple of "ifs" to turn Tech into a dangerous team this fall.

2012 North Carolina Football Preview: Potential And Other Predictable Platitudes

If you're not careful, you can talk yourself into North Carolina using all the same words that you used the last time: potential, Sleeping Giant™, et cetera. This team has potential in droves, but can the offense improve its consistency, and can the defense make a switch to a 4-2-5 after the departure of key pieces? And does it matter, since the Tar Heels are banned from the postseason?

2012 Wake Forest Football Preview: Bowls And Contradictions

With a terribly inexperienced offensive line, a thin receiving corps and an undersized defense, it is difficult to see how Wake Forest will make a serious run at a fifth bowl in seven years. But this is a Jim Grobe team, so assume they'll do it anyway.

2012 N.C. State Football Preview: Risk, Reward And Gallstones

David Amerson, Mike Glennon and company should be entertaining and just good enough to get N.C. State back to another bowl in 2012. But with a rebuilt defensive interior and a lack of interesting skill position players, the ceiling is probably not incredibly high.

2012 Maryland Football Preview: Ironman Football And The Benefit Of The Doubt

There are reasons to believe that Maryland will improve after last year's epic collapse, but the burden of proof is on head coach Randy Edsall and his embattled, thinned out Terps.

2012 Virginia Football Preview: Team A Vs. Team B

Virginia experienced an eight-win breakthrough in 2011 in Mike London's second year as head coach. Can it sustain its gains despite some key losses on defense? And in the world of dual-threats, Perry Jones ranks pretty high.
