Notre Dame Uses Internet Video To Tell Internet To Stop Recruiting For Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, noted Doer Of Right-Way Things in college athletics, has seen the proliferation of fans using the Internet to recruit players. That is an NCAA no-no! And Notre Dame's compliance department is speaking out on it ... via YouTube.

Notre Dame's point is sound -- compliance departments far and wide have concluded that tweeting at recruits is probably against NCAA rules -- and it did get the casting of this video just right, with the coaches featured looking just like the real Irish co ... oh, well, anyway, using two loudmouth dudes hanging on to their glory days was inspired.

But the chances that GoND1213 is going to see a YouTube video and stop posting on a recruit's Facebook wall or Instagram pictures are kind of low; the chances that this high-minded video will be mocked more than its advice is taken to heart are disappointingly high.

And so the use of the two jerks being jerky-jerk fans is the video's masterstroke: Fans who involve themselves up in trying to get 17-year-olds to come to their favored school have to understand that to the world, this is what they look like.
