Florida State defensive back Greg Reid was arrested in July for a suspended license and possession of marijuana. It wasn't his first incident, as he was arrested last year on perjury charges, which were dropped, and suspended from a game last year.
As Tomahawk Nation broke down at the time, this could mean a two-game suspension or worse, if Reid's gotten in trouble with drugs before. The school's drug policy calls for two-time offenders to miss what amounts to two games of a football season and for third-strikers to be dismissed.
Now, something like that has officially happened, Jimbo Fisher announced Wednesday morning in a brief statement. A "violation of team rules," it's termed.
One of the country's more exciting all-around players, Reid had 27 tackles and two picks last year on the defensive side, producing 563 yards and a touchdown in the return game. He was a force in 2010, accruing 14 pass break-ups, six turnovers, 54 tackles, another punt return score, and even a little bit of offensive contribution.
