Iowa Hawkeyes freshman running back Barkley Hill will need reconstructive surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, ending his 2012 season and striking the latest blow in the curse of the Iowa RB.
Hill tore his ACL on an 8-yard touchdown run during Saturday's scrimmage. The injury is just the latest in a long string of running back problems for the Hawkeyes. Just looking at what has happened since the end of last season:
- Marcus Coker transferred to Stony Brook;
- Mika'il McCall transferred;
- Jordan Canzeri tore his ACL;
- De'Andre Johnson got arrested twice and dismissed from the team.
And that is just a touch of what the Angry Iowa Running Back Hating God (or AIRBHG, for short) can do. With Hill now out of the picture, sophomore Damon Bullock looks to be the starter, with freshmen Greg Garmon and Michael Malloy backing him up. Of course, there is still time for AIRBHG to strike again.
