Purdue Boilermakers' starting linebacker Dwayne Beckford was suspended by the team Monday night after being arrested for an alleged violation of his parole.
The Purdue Boilermakers announced late Monday night that starting linebacker Dwayne Beckford has been suspended indefinitely following his latest arrest. The senior finished second on the team in tackles last year with 91 to cap off a pretty solid junior year.
Beckford was arrested in December on a drunken-driving charge, eventually pleading guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated and illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages in July. He was also arrested for possession of paraphernalia and synthetic drugs, but this latest incident was due to an apparent violation of probation.
Coach Danny Hope made the announcement late Monday, saying Beckford was arrested for what he described as a violation of Beckford's "probationary status.'' Hope says the school will examine details of what happened before determining Beckford's long-term status at Purdue.
It'll be interesting to see the next step in his career ... particularly whether it's with the Boilermakers.
