Utah will begin their 2012 season Thursday by hosting Northern Colorado.

After going 8-5 during their first season in the Pac-12, the Utah Utes will begin their 2012 season Thursday night against Northern Colorado.

Utah is poised for a big season in 2012 with a number of significant contributors returning. Many analysts consider it to be the second best team in the Pac-12 South division, just behind USC. After missing the final nine games of the 2011 season with a shoulder injury, Jordan Wynn will be back under center for the Utes against Northern Colorado.

Even though Wynn is back, Utah's attack against the Bears will still likely feature plenty of senior running back John White. White rushed for 1,519 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. He led the Pac-12 in yards and was third in rushing touchdowns.

On defense, Utah features one of the best defensive linemen in the country. Star Lotulelei is considered to be one of the best, if not the best, defensive players in all of college football. He will give the Northern Colorado offensive line plenty of problems on Thursday.

The Bears, who play in the FCS Big Sky Conference, finished 0-11 last season. Having to begin their 2012 season facing one of the best running backs and defensive linemen in the country will not be an easy task.

Game time, TV channel: 7:15 p.m. ET, Pac-12 Network
